The simpler version of this joint uses a reed cover which slides over the brass tube of the bass bar and involves one soldering operation.
I have inherited this design from Dave Williams and it involves brass of three different diameters and three soldering operations, each followed but machining operations.
The result is a pleasingly complex and subtle design.
